H2MAX for Compressed Cryogenic Applications

AST manufactures the largest diameter Type 3 cylinder that is suitable as the inner vessel for compressed cryogenic on-board fuel storage systems.

Compressed Cryogenic on-board fuel storage systems are comprised of a high-pressure inner vessel made of:

  • a forged aluminum liner and carbon fiber overwrap
  • a vacuum space filled with multi-layer insulation system
  • a metallic outer jacket

Compressed Cryogenic on-board fuel storage systems maximize hydrogen storage density by combining the high pressure (350-517 bar) with cryogenic temperatures (as low as 25 K) -248 C.

The large diameter of AST’s H2MAX Cylinder maximizes hydrogen storage, increasing usage range for commercial fleets.

AST can supply the complete Type 3 cylinder or just the aluminum liner.
