Conventional Machinist

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Conventional Machinist to set up and operate manual lathes and mills to produce precision components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with both small and large parts, particularly in steel machining. This individual must be highly skilled in reading engineering drawings, setting up tooling, and verifying part accuracy using precision measuring instruments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional lathes and mills, handling both small and large parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and sketches to fabricate parts to precise specifications.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools and machining techniques based on material properties.
  • Verify dimensions of finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Work with large steel parts and tooling, applying proper machining techniques for optimal results.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other machinists to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with conventional lathes and mills.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate parts accurately.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Experience with machining large steel parts and selecting the appropriate tooling for the job.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Job Type & Pay

  • Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person
  • Pay Range: $26.00 – $38.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Hours & Schedule

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shift)
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week (plus overtime as needed)
