Production Coordinator

We are seeking a Production Coordinator to support day-to-day operations in the Machine Shop, ensuring jobs are properly staged, tracked, and flowing efficiently through each cell. This role is essential to keeping spindles turning, coordinating material movement, updating performance displays, and supporting production staff and supervisors with real-time job progress and scheduling needs. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong communication and coordination skills to support a dynamic production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track movement of in-process parts, ensuring materials are at the correct machining cells.
  • Identify where parts are staged (e.g., back alley, spin sheet, oven) and communicate with forklift drivers and plasma operators to move material accordingly.
  • Maintain and update Machine Shop (MS) Display Files for each cell five times daily (Q0 through Q4) to reflect real-time production performance.
  • Notify the machine shop lead if a cell’s target percentage drops below 75%.
  • Monitor job completion status and alert supervisors when jobs near completion to prep next steps.
  • Facilitate and track First Article Inspection (FAI) approvals before full production begins—obtain 3 approvals and route to supervisor.
  • Ensure employees are clocked in correctly to jobs using E2 (ECI JobBOSS), and audit live job activity for data accuracy.
  • Assist with printing and applying stickers, documentation, and job traveler verification.
  • Support data collection and performance metrics tracking for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate across departments including machining, quality, maintenance, and materials handling to resolve bottlenecks and maintain workflow.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production coordination role.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing workflow, job travelers, and shop floor control systems.
  • Strong understanding of job tracking, scheduling, and material movement.
  • Comfortable using ERP systems (experience with ECI JobBOSS preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and digital documentation tools.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and support multiple team members simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and assisting with hands-on coordination needs.
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
